He indicated that community involvement will <br />be elicited for those areas. Councilmembcr Santos noted that there arc many residents who <br />have expressed interest in participating in the noise insulation program. lIe concluded by <br />stating the City Council has worked hard and dealt with some very complex issues over the <br />last three years to make improvements to the agreement for the benefit ofthe citizens. <br /> <br />Councilmcmber Stephens complimented Mayor Young and City stall for advancing the <br />Evergreen resolution and indicated that he is looking (()rward to the implementation of the <br />MacArthur streetscape this summer. <br /> <br />Mayor Young repol1ed on behalf or John Duarte or the Veterans Administration that the <br />National Commander-In-Chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be making his only stop <br />on the West Coast in San Leandro on February 10. The Council will he receiving an <br />invitation to a dinner in honor o[his visit. <br /> <br />Mayor Young commented that she recently learned of the passing of Nat Kleinstcin's wife, <br />Thelma, and suggested the Council adjourn tonight's meeting in her memory. <br /> <br />Councilmernber Santos requested the Council also adjouI11 the meeting in memory of Ruth <br />Vreeland, a Monterey City Councilmember who was recently killed in an auto accident. <br /> <br />13.
