Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag Carl Basuino led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. B. Roll Call PRESENT: Members Badger, Glaze, Grant, Nardine, Santos, Stephens; Mayor Young ABSENT: Member Grant Mayor Young announced that the dedication of the Hclen Lawrence South Offices Building at the San Leandro Civic Center was held just plior to tonight's City Council Meeting. 2. PRESRNTATIONS/RECOGNITJONS Mayor Young announced the dedication of a seat in the Council Chambers in memory of Madge Basuino, who was a conmmnity activist and regular attendee at City Council meetings. A small engraved plaque was mounted on the arm of the chair in which Madge used to sit. Madge's son, Carl Basuino, expressed his appreciation to the Council (or the tribute to his mother and to several other individuals for their kindness and support to his family. Mayor Young announced the lollowing presentations were made since the last regular City Council Meeting: . A proclamation was issued designating March 14-20, 2004 as "Portuguese Immigrant Week" in the City of San Leandro. . A proclamation was issued designating March 2004 as "American Red Cross Month" in San Leandro. . A contribution was made from the Mayor's Community Fund to the San Leandro Scholarship Foundation. 3. pUBIJe HEARINGS Public Hearing Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person, subject to adjustment by the Mayor. When you address the City Council, you should fill out a speaker card and submit it to the City Clerk so the order of speakers lnay be dctennined and an official record of names and addresses obtained.
