CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />COLlnciln1clnbcr Grant commented that during the meeting, Betania Leal and her family <br />arrived at the meeting but did not want to dismpt the proceedings. She was hopeful that <br />Bctania would enjoy her expelience as an honorary member of the Y AC. <br /> <br />Councilmelllber Stephens commented on an article in the New York Times that describes a <br />new technology called hypersonic sound. Hypersonic sound is a laser device which provides <br />directional sound and requires no speakers. Coul1cilmcrnber Stephens noted it could be used <br />for applications such sirens, train whistles or hostage barricades. He asked the City Manager <br />to dishibute the article to the Council and look into the possibility of applying the technology <br />locally. <br /> <br />Councilrnember Santos commented on the community discussions surrounding the <br />development of Eden Road. He expressed intcrest in working with the City Manager to form <br />an Eden Road committee and asked the Council for their consensus to scheclule the item on a <br />Cuture agenda. Mayor Young noted that although Eden Road is in the County Transportation <br />Plan, the funding will not be availablc for years. She cxprcssed conce111 about raising <br />residents' hopcs about Eden Road whcn its developmcnt will be delayed so far into the future. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the Council to schedule the formation of an Eden Road <br />Committee on a future City Council agenda. <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos requested the mceting be acljoulllcd in memory of Harry Weber, who <br />dicd in Octobcr of last year. Mr. Weber was a BMW dealer in San Leandro and a former <br />Recreation & Parks Commissioner. <br /> <br />Mayor Young commented that she would like to adjoum the meeting in memory of Nonn <br />Stamm and Larry BuU\yinick. <br /> <br />13.
