Mr. I-Tom provided additional background on the matter and <br />introduced Melissa Deadrieh, chair of the South Area Advisory Cornmittee which <br />helped to develop the East 14111 Street South Area Development Strategy. Ms. <br />Deadrich introduced members of the COlnmittee who were present at the meeting and <br />described the Committee's objectives. Planner Matt Tomas gave a short PowerPoint <br />presentation providing infOll1lation on the process and giving highlights of the <br />development strategy. <br /> <br />City Attomey Williams noted that Couneilmember Grant and Mayor Young live <br />within the subject area and advised that they not paliicipate in the discussion or the <br />vote on the matter. Couneilmember Grant asked if she would be able to comment on <br />the draft Strategy docurncnt, and Ms. Williams responded that Councilmember Grant <br />should not comment on the document. <br /> <br />The Hearing was then opened to the public. <br /> <br />Charles Gilcrest, chair of the Joint Pro,ject Area Redevelopment Advisory <br />Committee (JPA RAC), addressed the City Council, expressing the RAC's <br />unanimous SLlppOli for the plan. <br /> <br />Lou Filipovieh, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the City Council, expresslllg <br />various concerns regarding redevelopment projects and proceedings. <br /> <br />There being no further comments from the public, and without objection, the Public <br />Hearing was closed. <br /> <br />Councilmelnber Santos commented on the discussions regarding a dedicated lane for <br />AC Transit. He noted that some misinfoll11ation has been disseminated to the public <br />regarding the City Council's position on this issue. Councilmel11ber Santos stated that <br />there is nothing in the plan to suggest any intent by the Council to reduce the number <br />of traffic lanes on East 14tl1 Street. <br /> <br />Councilmember Nardine commented that she received emails and phone calls <br />conceming the inaccurate infonnatiol1 about the AC Transit dedicated lane. She <br />suggested the Council send a letter to AC Transit stating their position on the matter. <br /> <br />Mr. Jermanis thanked Councilmember Nardine for her comment about the <br />misinfonnation being disseminated on this issue, noting that Mayor Young sent a <br />letter to AC Transit expressing deep concems about the Bus Rapid Transit concept <br />along East 14th Street. <br />
