CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />City Manager Jermanis commented regarding the salary conlparison of San Francisco and San <br />Leandro police officers quoted by Mr. Filipovich. He stated that it is hard to believe that a <br />San Leandro police officer is paid more than a San Francisco police officer. Mr. J ermanis <br />stated that police officer salaries are set based on a conlparison of police officer salaries paid <br />by cities of cOlnparable size, and San Leandro police officer salaries compare favorably to <br />those in Alameda and Hayvvard. <br /> <br />City Manager J ermanis responded to the conlment made by Mr. Filipovich regarding staff <br />nlembers talking to the City Manager or City Council. Mr. J ermanis pointed out that he had <br />mlliounced to the Council the information conveyed by Assistant City Manager Ed Schilling <br />regarding the possibility of issuing an addendum to the plans for the MacArthur Boulevard <br />Streetscape project. <br /> <br />City Attonley Williams informed the Council that the Brown Act does not prohibit staff from <br />conferring with the City Manager, City Attorney or individual members of the Council during <br />the course of the meeting or at any other tinle. She stated that the Brown Act is designed to <br />restrict elected officials frOln discussing matters among a quoruln of the Council for the <br />purpose of fOlTIling a collective concurrence on an issue. <br /> <br />7. Al\1ENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />City Councihnembers or staff have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be <br />retnoved from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special <br />consideration. Members of the Public may request, by filing a speaker card prior to the <br />calling of Item 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar, the opportunity to address the City <br />Council regarding items remaining on the Consent Calendar. Items remaining on the Consent <br />Calendar will be considered for approval under one motion. <br /> <br />No amendment to Consent Calendar. <br /> <br />8. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Consent Calendar items are considered for approval by the City Council with one single <br />action. As described above in Item 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar, the City Council <br />may remove items from the Consent Calendar for purposes of presentation or discussion. <br />Menlbers of the public who have requested to address the Council regarding items remaining <br />on the Consent Calendar may do so for up to 3 minutes each to a maximum of 5 tninutes for <br />all items.
