JOINT CITY COUNCIL/SAN LEANDRO REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY PUBLIC <br />HEARINGS <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />5. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Con11nents are lin1ited to 3 minutes per person. When you address the City Council, you <br />should fill out a speaker card and subn1it it to the City Clerk so the order of speakers may be <br />determined and an official record of names and addresses obtained. The public is invited to <br />make comments on items of public interest NOT listed on the Agenda. <br /> <br />Chuck Pershing, President of the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce, addressed the <br />City Council, reading a statement on behalf of the Chamber's Board of Directors. The <br />Chamber's Budget Ad Hoc and Executive Committees recommend taking no position at this <br />tin1e on the Public Safety Parcel Tax ballot measure, believing they need to collect more <br />information from, and work with, the City Council Finance Committee and City staff on City <br />budget projections, areas for possible budget decreases, public safety vs. City service cut <br />trade-offs and identification of revenue enhancements. The Chmnber is striving to make an <br />informed recommendation on the ballot n1easure and will be issuing a background piece on <br />City Council actions on the matter to date. <br /> <br />Darlene Evans, 359 Bristol Boulevard, addressed the City Council regarding several <br />nuisance issues in her neighborhood and the need for affordable housing and employment <br />opportunities for older adults in San Leandro. <br /> <br />6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mr. J ennanis expressed appreciation for the Chamber's involvement in the City's budget <br />process and stated that he looks forward to continuing to work with the Chamber to identify <br />areas for expenditure reductions. He commented that it is incumbent upon staff to present to <br />the Council and the community the impacts on the overall budget if the parcel tax is not <br />
