<br />lVIINUTES Page 12 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-September 20, 2004 <br /> <br />Councilmember Stephens stated that he wanted to go on record to protest the construction <br />being performed by the Oakland Airport. To construct a new parking facility, the Airport is <br />performing pile driving at night. He reported that the noise emanating from the construction <br />can be heard in the north end of the City. Councilmember Stephens con1ll1ented that these <br />actions show that the Airport is not displaying what he considers to be acceptable practices. <br />He asked that these concerns be conveyed to the Port of Oakland and the Oakland Airport. <br /> <br />Counciln1en1ber Grant echoed Councilmember Stephens' con1nlents. Mayor Young indicated <br />that a letter will be sent to the Port of Oakland expressing the Council's concerns regarding <br />the construction noise. <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos commented that the instrument landing system issue requires further <br />discussion. He conlmented that he hoped All Faiths Crematory would discontinue its attempt <br />to locate anywhere in San Leandro. <br /> <br />Mayor Young commented that tonight's nleeting will be adjourned to September 27 at the <br />San Leandro Main Library for a joint work session with the San Lorenzo Unified School <br />District Board of Trustees and on Septen1ber 28 for a joint work session with the San Leandro <br />Unified School District Board. <br /> <br />Mayor Young announced that tonight's nleeting will be adjourned in memory of: Lucille <br />Gordon, a fonner Inember and Chair of the Recreation Commission; Alan McGregor Day, a <br />prominent San Leandro businessman, founder of Humboldt Instrument Company, former <br />president of the San Leandro Rotary and fonner member of the San Leandro Chamber of <br />COlnlnerce; Russel Hague, longtime San Leandro resident and husband of Ann Hague; and <br />Grace Handa, Inother of City Clerk Marian Handa. <br /> <br />13.
