<br />MINUTES Page 3 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-October 4, 2004 <br /> <br />6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mr. J ennanis commented that the Police Departnlent will look into the problems on Minerva <br />Street reported by Ms. Moirao. He cOilll11ented on the problem of illegal home-based <br />businesses and the difficulty with enforcenlent. <br /> <br />Regarding the Westgate Extension Project, Mr. Jermanis noted that the project is funded <br />through Measure B which was approved by the voters. <br /> <br />Mayor Young welcomed Assistant City Attorney Patrick Whitnell, who is attending the <br />meeting in the absence of City Attorney Jayne Williams. Mayor Young announced that Mr. <br />Whitnell had located the Municipal Code section pertaining to the number of cats allowed. <br />The Code does not limit the number of cats which can be kept. <br /> <br />Mr. J ermanis announced that Stephen Hollister will be joining the City as the new Assistant <br />City Manager. Mr. Hollister is currently the City Manager of Reedley and will assume his <br />new position in San Leandro beginning Novel11ber 1. Mr. J ermanis thanked Councilmembers <br />Glaze and Santos and Vice Mayor Badger for participating in the interview and selection <br />process. <br /> <br />7. AMENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />City Councilmenlbers or staff have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be <br />removed fronl the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special <br />consideration. Members of the Public nlay request, by filing a speaker card prior to the <br />calling of Itenl 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar, the opportunity to address the City <br />Council regarding items remaining on the Consent Calendar. Itenls remaining on the Consent <br />Calendar will be considered for approval under one nlotion. <br /> <br />Public Comments on Item 8.F.: <br /> <br />Bo Johansen, 2515 Walnut Drive, addressed the City Council, commenting that he has tried <br />since 1985 to have Walnut Drive improved. Mr. Johansen requested that all Walnut Drive <br />residents be informed as to how much they will have to pay and what improvements will be <br />Inade. <br /> <br />Mr. J ermanis responded to Mr. Johansen's comment, stating that the maximum amount <br />which residents will pay is $14,800 per hOl11e. <br /> <br />Consent Calendar was amended to remove Item 8.G. Item will be considered under <br />Item 9. Items Removed from Consent Calendar. <br />
