CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />City Manager Jern1anis comlnented that City staff is aware of the situation regarding Hugo's <br />Linens described by Ms. Aborashed. He noted that, due to a miscommunication, the Police <br />Department was not aware that Ms. Aborashed had filed a Declaration to Install Temporary <br />Campaign Signs. Mr. J ermanis indicated that the City would contact Hugo's Linens to give <br />assurance that at no time was the business in violation of the City's sign ordinance. <br /> <br />Mr. Jermanis conlll1ented on the continuing problem with campaign signage. He noted that <br />Public Works routinely removes signs placed in the public right-of-way, as campaign signs <br />are only allowed on private property. Mr. J ermanis stated that, while not a common <br />occurrence, legally-placed campaign signs have at times been removed without a candidate's <br />pennISSlon. <br /> <br />7. AMENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />City Counciln1embers or staff have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be <br />removed from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special <br />consideration. Members of the Public may request, by filing a speaker card prior to the <br />calling of Iten1 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar, the opportunity to address the City <br />Council regarding items remaining on the Consent Calendar. Items remaining on the Consent <br />Calendar will be considered for approval under one motion. <br /> <br />Public Comments on the Consent Calendar: <br /> <br />Lou Filipovich, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, stating that there is not <br />enough infonnation provided on any of the iteIns, and particularly on item 8.A., to make an <br />infonned decision. Mr. Filipovich commented that he attends many City meetings, and he <br />asked how the average citizen could obtain adequate information on these items if he is <br />unable to obtain it. Mr. Filipovich made COlnments on the ordinance governing campaign <br />SIgnS. <br /> <br />No amendment to Consent Calendar. <br /> <br />8. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Consent Calendar iteIns are considered for approval by the City Council with one single <br />action. As described above in Item 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar, the City Council <br />may remove items from the Consent Calendar for purposes of presentation or discussion. <br />MeInbers of the public who have requested to address the Council regarding items remaining <br />on the Consent Calendar n1ay do so for up to 3 n1inutes each to a maximum of 5 minutes for <br />all iteIns. Iten1s listed on the Consent Calendar are deemed to have been read by title. <br />
