Ms. Handa gave background on the matter <br />and asked for Council's input on questions regarding return postage and ballot printing. <br />Regarding the order of the candidates' names on the ballot, Ms. Handa stated that she <br />has requested that the Secretary of State conduct a random alphabet drawing to <br />detenlline the order of candidates on the run-off ballot but has not yet received a <br />response. The resolution has been revised to allow the City Clerk as the Elections <br />Official to luake the detenl1ination that the order of names on the run-off ballot be the <br />SaIne as the order of the nanles on the General Election ballot. <br /> <br />Councilnlember Santos inquired about the estimated cost of the run-off election. Ms. <br />Handa stated that the estimated cost of the election is $60,000-$80,000. Mr. Santos <br />asked if the additional costs of return postage and printing of ballots for each precinct <br />could increase the total cost of the election to $100,000. Ms. Handa continued that the <br />total cost could reach $100,000 if the costs for postage and special ballot plinting are <br />added. <br /> <br />Councilnlenlber Grant asked if postage is paid for absentee voters. Ms. Handa replied <br />that it is not. <br /> <br />Councilnlelnber Glaze asked if voters would be able to drop ballots off at the Registrar <br />of Voters' (ROV) Office as well as the three City locations and that mailed ballots <br />
