SOllle cases involved more than one allegation of discrimination. <br />13e]ow were the outcomes: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />3 cases were referred to the Department of Pair Employment and Housing, <br />the U.S. Department or Housing and Urban Development, or other <br />attorneys; <br />I case \vas given conciliation services by ECHO; <br />6 complainants were provided counseling services by ECHO; <br />10 pending cases; and, <br />5 insufficient evidence cases <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. ECHO'S fair housing counselors conducted 21 fair housing training sessions: <br />· 11 sessions for 100 landlords and property managers; <br />· 6 sessions for] 50 tenants or potential homebuyers; <br />· 3 sessions for 70 realtors and property managers. <br /> <br />. ECHO conducted I3 fair housing presentations on fair housing rights and responsibilities <br />for special entities like the Property Management Training Institute. Eden Inl'ormation & <br />Rel'erral Service, social service agencies. and prospective testers. They raised awareness <br />in the community about fair housing through four puhlic service announcements (sent <br />four times to 23 radio stations), three newspaper advertisements, and distribution of 1,340 <br />educational lliers to the San Leandro Library, non-profit agencies, and a senior fair. <br /> <br />. ~CHO held a special Fair Housing Seminar in April. 2006 to commemorate fair housing <br />month. Ten (10) landlords and property managers representing various complexes and <br />property management companies attended. <br /> <br />. eCHO conducts random and targeted audits to gauge the level of discrilnination in the <br />rental housing lnarket. ECHO conducted J 5 targeted fair housing audits to gauge the <br />level of discrim ination of specific protected classes. These were paired audits that were <br />designed to 1l1eaSure the level of discrimination based on familial status. The Jail' housing <br />staff is cunently analyzing the data, and the published audit report wi \I be availahle in <br />Sep1elll bel' 2006. <br /> <br />Priority # 5. Maintain and improve the current capacity of the housing and <br />shelter system, expanding transitional and permanent supportive housing, and <br />providing services to homeless individuals and families, including integrated <br />health care, em ployment services and other supportive services. <br /> <br />Activiti9S: <br />. Ruilding Futures with Women and Children (BFWC) - San Leandro Shelter: The City <br />funded I:3FWC with CDBG funds to provide supportive services to homeless persons at its <br />emergency shelter, San Leandro Shelter.
