<br />including 6,235 bed nights at the shelter. orthe 199 adult women served, 123 had special <br />needs, and 180 utilized support services. One hundred thirty (130) women received one-on- <br />one case management services totaling 405 sessions. Twenty~nine (29) of the 36 women, or <br />81 %, who exited alter staying 30 days or more, increased their level of sell' sufficiency, and <br />19 (or 5JlY<J) exited to long-ten11 housing/employment. The shelter offered 21 parenting <br />support groups, 3 I domestic violence education groups, 24 life skills workshops, 105 <br />children's therapeutic play groups. and 14 family nights. <br /> <br />. Davis Street Family Resource Center (DSFRC): The City also funded DSFRC with <br />CDBC; funds to provide supportive services to homeless persons. DSfRC provided an array <br />of basic services for 303 homeless people using its CDBG grant from the City. However, a <br />total of S8R homeless persons were served using other funding sourees. Services are <br />modified to accommodate the special needs of homeless people (e.g., providing one-on~one <br />case management, providing food that docs not need to be cooked, and access to the clothing <br />program). Homeless persons received various services, including referrals to emergency <br />housing, case management to support housing and employment searches, suitahle groceries, <br />clothing. financial education, life skills training, free acute medical care, and mental health <br />and youth programs. DSFRC also works closely with another local program, April Showers, <br />which is a consortium of 10 churches. <br /> <br />Priority # 6. Maintain and expand activities designed to prevent those <br />currently housed from becoming homeless. <br /> <br />Activities: <br />. Rental Assistance Program <br />. Through ECHO's Rental Assistance Program, funded through the City's General Fund, <br />32 families were given rental assistance (such as payments for delinquent rent or security <br />deposits) to prevent homelessness. FCIIO exceeded its goal hy 29%. ECHO also <br />provided infon11ation and counseling for 131 eviction-related cases and prevented 14 <br />evictions. <br /> <br />. Temwt/Landlord Counseling <br />. The City contracted with ECHO Housing for landlord/tenant counseling services with <br />CUBe; funds to help maintain people in housing. Information and referral services were <br />provided to 691 landlords and tenants. ECHO assisted 637 people from 365 households <br />with landlordltenant cases. Among them were 131 cases related to eviction, of which 14 <br />households (36 persons) were prevented from being evicted. Staft- also assisted with <br />retaliation cases (1]). landlord/tenant inquiries related to repairs (73), security deposits <br />(57), rent increases (15), and entries by a landlord (9). There were also 173 other <br />miscellaneous inquiries (e.g.. noise, neighhor disputes, parking, mold, etc.). orthe total, <br />five families in mohile home parks were assisted. ECHO also assisted 44 persons in 24 <br />households with conciliation/mediation services and 14 eviction mediation cases.
