The Committee recommended the <br />salary adjustment be granted, with the caveat that there would be greater <br />paJ1icipation by Councilmclnbers on Intergovernmental committees, and it was <br />the Committee's expectation that the Mayor's work would be in alignment with <br />the goals and policies ofthe City Council. <br /> <br />Council engaged in discussion on the subject, agreeing the question of whether the <br />position was part-time or rull-time was not relevant to the decision at hand. The <br />Council agreed to continue discussion on the Mayor's salary adjustment to the <br />next regular meeting. <br /> <br />b. Expiration of Board and Commission members' tenns of office 30 days after first <br />meeting of new Council. (1408) <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Glaze pointed out the appointments or the board and commission <br />members will not expire until a new member is appointed and qualified. <br /> <br />City Attomey Randolph pointed out both items 7 .B.l (a) and 7.B.l (b) will require <br />an ordinance. <br /> <br />c. Discussion on appointments to Intergovernmental Agencies and City Council <br />Committees. (1156) <br /> <br />Councilmembers discussed the recommendations by the Mayor and Vice Mayor <br />for appointments to Council Internal Committees and Ad I-Ioc Conunittees and <br />resolved any potential conflicts. Vice Mayor Glaze noted the Human Relations <br />Committee does not have full representation, and the cun'ent members are <br />requested to meet to determine the disposition of the committee. The Council <br />accepted the recommendations for the appointments to Council Intemal <br />Committees and Ad Hoc Committees and agreed to have them brought forward <br />for action at the next regular meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmembers then discussed the recommendations for appointments to <br />Intergovernmental agencies. Vice Mayor Glaze provided some background <br />regarding the interest by COllncilmembers in serving on Intergovermncntal agency <br />boards, noting factors slIch as expeJiise or strong interest in the subject area, the <br />sharing of paid cornmittees and desirc tor County-wide experience and exposure. <br /> <br />The Council agreed to most of the recommcndations made by the Mayor and Vice <br />Mayor. The Council a!:"Teed to bring forward the recommendations for action at <br />the next regular meeting, cxcept for the appointment to the East Bay Dischargers <br />Authority, which will be agendizec1 for furthcr discussion. <br />
