<br />MINUTES <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-April 7, 2003 <br /> <br />Page 12 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The fifth grade class at McKinley School for their proj ect benefiting the children at <br />Children's Hospital in Oakland. <br />San Leandro Little League, Floresta Baseball League and Washington Manor Junior <br />League for their post-season parties. <br />San Leandro High School Pirates Wrestling Club. <br />Assumption School for their Building Fund. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mayor Young also am10unced the following presentations were made: <br />· Proclamation declaring Portuguese llnmigrants Week in San Leandro. <br />· Certificate of Recognition to Audrey Goodtrad upon her retirement after many years of <br />service on the Fargo Senior Center Board of Directors. <br />· Certificate of Recognition to San Leandro Community Church on the celebration of its <br />10th . <br />annIversary. <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos requested tonight's meeting be adjourned in memory of Thelma <br />Spinola, who was a long-tin1e volunteer at Garfield School. <br /> <br />Counciln1ember Nardine expressed interest in scheduling a discussion on the Noise <br />Ordinance and considering an1ending the ordinance to allow dances by defining them as <br />educational activities. There was discussion regarding the City Manager's ability to grant an <br />exemption to the ordinance to allow the dance to extend to 11 :00 p.m. City Manager <br />J ermanis stated he will review the matter with the Police Chief. <br /> <br />Councilmelnber Grant shared a booklet with the Council and City Manager called "Keep the <br />Peace" which lists available violence prevention resources. The booklet was developed by <br />the Alameda County Health Department and the Martin Luther King Center, of which she is <br />now a board member. Councilmember Grant suggested the booklet would be a good resource <br />for the high schools and for the Youth Advisory Commission. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant thanked City Attorney Liane Randolph for her friendship and support <br />and wished her the best of luck. <br /> <br />Counciln1ember Badger also thanked City Attorney Randolph. He recalled in an earlier <br />discussion regarding the Community Preservation Ordinance that Council agreed it would be <br />a good idea to publish the upcoming changes along with the Council's signatures or names. <br /> <br />Councilmember Badger reported he presented San Leandro flags on behalf of the Mayor to <br />the Chinese Christian Schools on Fargo. Mayor Young announced the desktop version of the <br />San Leandro flag has been presented to all the 3rd grade classes in San Leandro who were <br />willing to participate in the program. <br /> <br />Mayor Young requested tonight's meeting be adjourned in memory of Denise Quintell, who <br />maintained her positive attitude and good spirits through a lengthy battle with cancer. <br />
