<br />MINUTES Page 4 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-September 2, 2003 <br /> <br />Barry Luboviski, Building Trades Council, addressed the City Council in support of <br />prevailing wages and the case involving the City of Long Beach and asked the Council to <br />reaffirm its commitment to prevailing wages. <br /> <br />William Fernandez, 13553 School St., addressed the City Council regarding traffic issues on <br />School Street. Mr. Fernandez requested a stop sign at the intersection of School Street and <br />136th Street and submitted a petition signed by residents and parishioners of Assumption <br />Parish. <br /> <br />Matt Maloon, IBEW 595, addressed the City Council, urging the Council to adopt a <br />resolution which supports the goals of the State's prevailing wage laws. <br /> <br />Stu Helfer, Teamsters Local 853, addressed the City Council, urging the Council's suppOli <br />of prevailing wages. <br /> <br />Darlene Evans, 359 Bristol Boulevard, addressed the City Council regarding the City's <br />hiring process and noise issues in her neighborhood. <br /> <br />6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />City Manager J erm ani s commented that the City Council has in the past supported the <br />paYment of prevailing wages. <br /> <br />With regard to Mr. Fernandez' comments, Mr. Jermanis stated he will discuss with the <br />Engineering and Transportation Department the request for a stop sign at 136th and School <br />Street. <br /> <br />Regarding Ms. Evans' comments, Mr. Jermanis described the City's hiring process and stated <br />the Human Resources staff can answer any specific questions. <br /> <br />City Attorney Williams stated she will work with the City Manager and staff to monitor the <br />legislative and legal issues surrounding prevailing wage law. <br /> <br />7. AMENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />City Council Members or staff have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be <br />removed from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special <br />consideration. Members of the Public may request, by filing a speaker card, the opportunity <br />to address the City Council regarding items remaining on the Consent Calendar. Items <br />remaining on the Consent Calendar will be considered for approval under one motion. <br /> <br />Consent Calendar was amended to remove Item 8.N. Item will be considered under <br />Item 9. Items Removed from Consent Calendar. <br />
