Facilities Committee Meeting of November 6,2003. Accepted as submitted. <br /> <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Badger asked that it be noted for the record that the City of San Leandro does <br />not have rent control. <br /> <br />Councilmember Badger stated he attended a Chinese Christian School dinner in Hayward and <br />the Marine Corps birthday breakfast in San Leandro and con1l11ented that they were both <br />enjoyable events. <br /> <br />Councilmember Badger commented that he and Vice Mayor Glaze are members of the <br />Alan1eda County Fire Commission, and that he attended the dedication of two new fire <br />stations in Dublin. He noted that although it was a very nice event, it was not quite as nice as <br />the openings of Fire Stations 10 and 11 in San Leandro. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Glaze commented that he and Councilmembers Grant and Nardine attended the <br />Chan1ber of Commerce retreat in Placerville this past weekend. He stated it was an <br />outstanding event held in a great location and was one of the most productive and enjoyable <br />retreats he has ever attended. After the retreat, the Council and Chamber members attended <br />an enjoyable reception hosted by Councilmember Stephens and his wife, Connie. Vice <br />Mayor Glaze complimented City Manager Jermanis for his outstanding presentation on the <br />City's budget and for his ability to make complicated financial issues comprehensible. <br /> <br />City Manager J ermanis in turn complimented Vice Mayor Glaze for his entertaining <br />presentation at the retreat on the accomplishments and future plans of the City. He <br />commented it was a pleasure to team up with the Vice Mayor on their successful presentation. <br /> <br />Mayor Young commented that the City did a fabulous job on the Veterans Day event and <br />noted many favorable COlTIlllents from the community on the recognition of the soldiers who <br />lost their lives in the war in Iraq. She also attended the Veterans Day parade in Hayward with <br />Counci1member Badger and the Lost Boats Memorial at the San Leandro Marina. <br /> <br />Mayor Young noted the passing of Lillian Kessler, who was a resident of Mission Bay Mobile <br />Home Park and very active in local politics. Tonight's meeting will be adjourned in her <br />memory. <br />
