<br />MINUTES Page 10 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-DECEMBER 15, 2003 <br /> <br />LA WVMA project. Mr. Perez commented on the property under freeway overpasses and the <br />need for Caltrans to ensure the areas are properly maintained. <br /> <br />Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the City Council, complimenting the <br />LA WVMA project construction on Lewelling Boulevard. Mr. Filipovich stated there was no <br />listing of the December 1, 2003 meeting in the local newspaper the Sunday prior to the <br />meeting and someone who called the City offices was told there are no meetings on the first <br />Monday of the month. Mr. Filipovich expressed concern regarding Brown Act violations. <br /> <br />6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />City Manager Jermanis responded to the comment regarding the issue of trees in the Davis <br />West neighborhood, stating that it is the policy of the City to provide replacement trees when <br />one is renloved and to preserve trees whenever possible. Mr. Jermanis noted that a tree had <br />been removed on Warden and replaced with a new tree. <br /> <br />Mr. Jermanis stated the City has received no proposal from Alanleda Power and Telecom, and <br />there have been no meetings with them. <br /> <br />Mr. Jernlanis pointed out the agreement with Trans-Box on tonight's agenda for Council <br />consideration would address some of the concerns expressed by Mr. Perez. <br /> <br />Regarding the LA WVMA project, Mr. Jermanis reported the tunneling project is proceeding. <br />The Engineering and Transportation Department is monitoring the proj ect, and LA WVMA <br />has agreed to provide public inlprovenlents once the project is complete. Mr. Jermanis noted <br />that issues have emerged with Heron Bay residents, mostly related to parking. <br /> <br />Mr. J ermanis stated staff is currently working with Caltrans to nlake the fencing around the <br />Warden area more secure. <br /> <br />Regarding the COIUluents luade about meeting information, Mr. J enllanis stated he found it <br />hard to believe a staff person would give misinformation about a regularly scheduled City <br />Council nleeting date. Mr. J ermanis stated meeting notices are posted in front of City Hall, <br />on the City website and on the government access channel. <br /> <br />7. AMENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />City Councilmembers or staff have an oPP0l1unity at this time to request that an item be <br />removed from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special <br />consideration. Members of the Public may request, by filing a speaker card prior to the <br />calling of Item 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar, the opportunity to address the City <br />Council regarding itenls renlaining on the Consent Calendar. Items remaining on the Consent <br />Calendar will be considered for approval under one motion. <br />
