<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Meeting <br />February 4, 2002 <br /> <br />Page 9 <br /> <br />Council discussion ensued regarding pedestrian signage in the City of Hercules, as <br />weIl as the need to lobby CalTrans for improvement in safety regulations on E. 14th <br />and Davis Streets. <br /> <br />Council Member Loeffler expressed concerns with numerous sidewalk repairs on <br />Beverly Ave. which have been done with asphalt rather than concrete. He asked <br />staff to research the issue and provide information to the City Council on the plan <br />to upgrade these areas. <br /> <br />The City Manager noted asphalt patches are intended to be a temporary fix until <br />the concrete is done. <br /> <br />Council Member Loeffler commented on the City's WebPages and questioned why <br />information is not more current. He specificaIly mentioned there are no crime stats <br />listed on the City's WebPages. <br /> <br />In conclusion, Council Member Loeffler remarked on the marked improvement <br />with regard to maintenance of right-of-ways in San Leandro. <br /> <br />F. Council Member Santos commented on various airport noise issues and suggested <br />citizens could visit "nonoise.org" on the web to get information. He further stated <br />that FedEx should be urged to eliminate flying their hush-kited stage 2 aircraft <br />over the Neptune Drive area. <br /> <br />G. Mayor Young reported to the City Council some additional recognitions she <br />presented over the last month which included: <br /> <br />· Resolution commending Virginia Niles for her service on the Human Services <br />Committee, <br />· Proclamation designating Jan. 9, 2002 as "San Leandro Links Day" in San <br />Leandro and <br />· Proclamation designating Jan. 17, 2002 as "Robert A Tucknott Day" in San <br />Leandro. <br /> <br />Mayor Young commented on a memo she distributed inviting Council Members to <br />the Alameda County Mayor's Conference Meeting in San Leandro this month, <br />which wiIl be held at the Englander. She noted there would be a presentation <br />made on the redevelopment of the Pelton and Scribner Centers. <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported on her recent visit to Washington D.C. and New York for <br />the U. S. Conference of Mayors. <br /> <br />Mayor Young concluded by announcing that the Early Voting Program in San <br />Leandro was featured yesterday on Channel 7 and Channel 2 News, as well as <br />recurring reports on KCBS Radio and the KCBS website. <br />
