<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and <br />San Leandro Hillside Geologic Hazard Abatement District <br />Joint Meeting - April 15, 2002 <br /> <br />Page 9 <br /> <br />Public Comment: <br /> <br />Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Dr., addressed the City Council commenting he <br />has been involved in this project for many years at the County level. He noted that <br />if residents want to do anything about this proposal, they would have to move into <br />the subject area 30 days before the election takes place so they would have a vote_ <br />He concluded by stating he is sti11 waiting for information as to how many <br />employees make $90,000 to $100, 000 annually. <br /> <br />9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />A. Council Member Badger reported on Operation Clean Sweep and the San <br />Leandro Clean and Green campaign. He indicated brooms and flyers would be <br />handed out on Thursday at Parrott and E. 14th Streets. <br /> <br />B. Vice Mayor Glaze requested this evening's meeting be adjourned in memory of <br />Laura Manners, former Secretary of the Human Resources Department (which is <br />now known as Human Services) and Ida Rodriguez, who was very active in the <br />Washington Manor Little League. <br /> <br />C. Council Member Loeffler commented he felt the presentation by residents <br />regarding the Durant Square Project was very good. He added it is crucial for <br />staff to be cognizant of the time1ine for the project in order to ensure input is <br />given at appropriate times. <br /> <br />Council Member Loeffler asked that the City take a serious look at taking over <br />ownership ofE. 14th and Davis Streets. <br /> <br />Council Member Loeffler submitted written comments for the record, which are <br />attached to the Minutes for reference. <br /> <br />D. Council Member Santos commended the City Clerk for her efforts and remarked <br />that it was a City Clerk that initiated the creation of the League of California <br />Cities. <br /> <br />E. Mayor Young remarked on an erroneous document that was recently circulated <br />throughout the community, She also reported a summer intern opportunity for <br />San Leandro high school students, age 16 to 18, to work with the Port of <br />Oakland. <br /> <br />The Mayor added there is an opportunity for a San Leandro senior to be <br />appointed to the California Senior Legislature and concluded by commenting <br />that San Leandro will be featured on the television program Bay Area Backroads <br />that will air Saturday at 6 p.m. <br />
