Council Member Santos expressed concern about the issues addressed on the west
side; i.e., Vestal Court, West Avenue 1361h, and the Douglas/Davis area. He
would like City Council to receive a report regarding the area so Council can
consider future action.

Council Member Santos shared Superintendent Tom Himmelberg's article from
the Thursday, May 30, 2002, issue of the San Leandro Times about the improved
working relationship between the City of San Leandro and the school district.
Council Member Santos added he supports this cooperative effort.

Council Member Santos suggested that Mayor Young recognize the achievements
of Olubukola Esho, the young Nigerian woman from San Leandro who graduated
from San Francisco State University with a 3.96 GPA and who hopes to become a
pediatrician.

B. Council Member Loeffler thanked Carolyn Knudtson, Recreation and Human
Services Director, and her staff for the great celebration at the Cherry Festival over
the weekend. He had several suggestions to consider for future events: restore
honoring pioneers at the Cherry Festival, share the event for the homebound via
Cable TV/government access TV, restore the king and queen, and provide for
feedback from residents on the City's website.

Council Member Loeffler noted the lack of historical photographs in City Hall and
encouraged the City fund a project to include them in our displays.
