Resolution No. 2002-018, resolution of the Redevelopment Ageney ofthe City of San <br />Leandro authorizing the exeeution and delivery of a promissory note in an amount not <br />to exeeed $3,000,000 evideneing the Agency's obligation to repay tbe City of San <br />Leandro for amounts previously advanced by the City with respect to the Plaza <br />Redevelopment Project (provides for execution of a note by the Redevelopment <br />Agency to repay the City of San Leandro for amounts loaned to the Agency for the <br />Plaza Redevelopment Project). Cost: $3,000,000. Funding: Redevelopment <br />Agency. (2937) <br /> <br />M/S/C Loeffler and Badger. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> <br />B. Presentation by Gordon Galvan, Executive Director, San Leandro Links, regarding the <br />West San Leandro shuttle service. (2938) <br /> <br />Mr. Gordon Galvan, Executive Director of San Leandro Links, presented a report on the <br />shuttle service program. He noted the program is working to solve a regional issue. He <br />stated the program helps to decrease traffic congestion and improve air quality and <br />mentioned hc is working with BART and AC Transit to reduce traffic. He noted that <br />ridership has exceeded the planned estimate. He is estimating that by the end of the year <br />there will be 10,000 riders per month. He commended the Mayor, City Council, City <br />Manager, stan: and eommunity members for the success. He repot1ed on receiving grant <br />funds from BART, Bay Area Air Quality Management District, San Leandro <br />Redevelopment Agency, and private funds. <br /> <br />There was discussion by the City Counci I regarding the use of the shuttles dUling "down <br />time" fOf community members, such as senior citizens, and future funding issues. <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller commented on the number of riders and encouraged Mr. <br />Galvan to pUfsue private businesses for funding. <br /> <br />Mayor Young commented on AC TnUlsit working to change routes to support the new <br />Family Support Center. <br /> <br />Council Member Badger commented on the maximum number of riders for the program <br />and the duration of the program in the future. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Glaze commented the program was received better than expected and noted <br />senior citizens need transportation so they do not have to wait for long periods of time to <br />schedule. <br /> <br />Mr. Galvan noted the limited fLmding in the future, and that they do not have funding to <br />do other types of programming without charging. He also eommented on potential uses <br />of the shuttles during the available time. <br /> <br />The City Council recessed from 8:45 p.m. to 8:50 p.m. <br />
