Presentation of Telly Awards to Alzheimers Services of the East Bay, Alameda County <br />Firefighter LClmy Oll', and AT&T Broadband Cable production staff for awards won by <br />the "San Leandro City Limits" cable television program. <br /> <br />Mayor Young gave infonnation on the Telly Awards, noting less than 10% of the over <br />11,000 submissions each year are chosen for an award. Mayor Young announced the <br />program is aired three times each week on Cable Channel 28. <br /> <br />Firefighter Lenny Orr accepted the Telly Award for the episode on Disaster Preparedness; <br />Michelle Pope accepted the Award lor the program featuring Alzheimer's Services of the <br />East Bay; and LeRoy Francis and Tron Miller of AT&T Broadband Cable accepted the <br />Award for the program on the openi ng of the Century 16 Theaters. <br /> <br />All tlrree shows were hosted by the Mayor and the official statues will be displayed at City <br />Hall. <br /> <br />3. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br />Public Hearing Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person, subject to revision by the <br />Mayor. When you address the City Council, you should fill out a speaker card and submit it <br />to the City Clerk so the order of speakers may be determined and an official record of names <br />and addresses obtained. <br /> <br />A. Matter of appeal by F. Wrieht and .J. Wrieht. Jr. of the Board of Zonine <br />Adjustments' addition of Conditions of Approval for Freddie's Showcase pursuant <br />to the Deemed Approved Alcoholic Beveraee Sale Reeulations described in Article <br />26 of the San Leandro Zonine Code~ PLN2002-00087; appeal by applicant of the <br />decision of the Board of Zoning Adjustments to add conditions to the operating methods <br />of an existing Deemed Approved business; 599 MacArthur Boulevard (Freddie's <br />Showcase); Assessor's Parcel Number 76-326-9-1; F. Wright and .I. Wright Jr., <br />Applicants, Business and Property Owners; CC Community Commercial Zoning District. <br />(2761 ) <br />This being the time and place lor the Public Hearing on the above matter, City Manager <br />Jennanis gave an overview of the item and introduced Zoning Enloreement Official <br />William Schock. Mr. Schock rcviewed the events leading up to this appeal of the <br />decision of the Board of Zoning Adjustmcnts, including reports of traffic, noise, garbage, <br />loitering and illegal activity generated primarily by patrons leaving the premises. Mr. <br />Schock reported he has sent letters and held meetings with the busincss owner to develop <br />a plan to address these concems, however, thc activities have continued. At their <br />September 19, 2002 meeting, the Board of Zoning Adjustments (BZA) adopted <br />Conditions of Approval for the business. <br /> <br />Police Chief Joe Kitchen described instances of crowd control and noise disturbances at <br />the subject business and the resulting impact on police resources. <br />
