Vice Mayor Glaze supported removing the first <br />paragraph ofthe resolution. <br /> <br />Councilmember Badger concurred with Vice Mayor Glaze's statements regarding labels, <br />pointing out the tem1 "welfare" evokes a celiain mental image, as does the tenn <br />"minOtity." Update on City Manager goals for 2002. <br /> <br />(1502) <br /> <br />City Manager Jenmlllis gave an overview of the item. Assistant City Manager Schilling <br />provided an update to Council on the progress made on the rivc goals: Neighborhood <br />Beautification, Build Neighborhood Identity and Pride, Rehabilitation and Improved <br />Maintenance of City Parks, Development of Senior Center, Enhance Wcst San Leandro <br />Business District (including Marina). Mr. Schilling pointed out an error on page 210 of <br />the Counci I' s packet, noting the memorandum mentioned in item 2( e) was not included as <br />an attachment. Mr. Schilling stated staff will return to the Council in early 2003 with <br />more speci ric recommendations for bettcr serving neighborhood objectives. <br /> <br />Councilmembers asked elarif'}ring questions, expressed concerns and provided comments <br />and suggestions to stalT regarding the goals. <br /> <br />E.
