CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councill11el11ber Badger reported receiving over 40 letters from Garfield School second <br />graders and stated he enjoys his visits. Couneilmember Badger requested the Council adjoum <br />tonight's meeting in tribute to the military academies Jor exemplifying the values of pride and <br />sp0l1smanship. <br /> <br />Couneilmember Nardine commented she has used Access San Leandro and it worked great. <br />She thanked the Police Department for their follow-up of the complaint she logged in the <br />system. Councilrnember Nardine noted the need to get the word out about the system. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Glaze expressed appreciation to Councilmember Loeffler for his contributions <br />and years of service on the City Council, <br /> <br />Councilmel11ber Santos expressed appreciation to Councilmember Loeffler for bringing the <br />issue ofhomelcssness to the Council's attention. He stated Councilmel11ber Loeffler has been <br />a real inspiration to him and hoped he would be able to can)' forward some of the issues <br />Councilmel11ber Loeffler championed while in olTice. <br /> <br />Conncilmember Santos congratulated the San Leandro High School football team for winning <br />the HAAL this year and for their e1forts in their game against DeLaSalle this weekend. <br />Councilmember Santos expressed concern that the City is not getting its money's worth from <br />the Alameda County rlood Control District, and the Council should follow up on comments <br />previously made by Vice Mayor Glaze. Councilmember Santos asked the Council to adjourn <br />the meeting in memory of Aloys Bnmk. <br /> <br />Mayor Young announced the installation of the new Council will take place at the next <br />regular Council Meeting on December 16, 2002. Council member Loemer will make his final <br />comments tonight, and Councilmembers will be allowed to make final comments to him next <br />week. <br /> <br />Mayor Young asked if the Council has any objection to her drafting a letter to <br />Assemblymember Corbett regarding the group home proposed on Scenicview Drive. <br />Councilmemher Badger expressed interest in signing the letter since he represents the a1Tected <br />district. Vice Mayor Glaze expressed concern the Council has been given little information <br />on this P31iicular matter. City Attorney Randolph pointed out if the letter is drafted on behalf <br />of the Mayor and City Council it is a policy statement and should be agendized and discussed. <br />She recommended either placing it on a future agenda or have the Mayor or Councilmemher <br />Badger respond individually. Councilmember Loefiler noted the issue of group homes has <br />come before the Council many times and has not been given the same attention as this <br />particular matter. Councilmcmber Grant agreed with the City Attorney's recommendation to <br />
