CITY MANAGER'S REPORT AND COMMENTS The City Manager reported on the recent energy crisis and added that the staff is aware and working on a goal of a 7% reduction in energy usage. He noted that the City has been recognized by PG&E for its energy efficiency. He commented that the City Council would be requested to add an Energy Resolution to the Council agenda under New Business when they come to that portion of the agenda. The City Manager indicated that staff is requesting that the Parks & Recreation Commission review the city's policies regarding alcohol use in city parks. With regard to the status of the senior meeting facility in the Main Library, the City Manager noted that the meeting rooms should be available by the end of February. In response to the comments made about the lack of magnification devices at the Main Library, he noted that he would ask the Library Director to research the issue. He further indicated that bicycle racks are due to be installed at the Main Library in the near future. The City Manager commented that the issue of transportation for disabled persons would be referred to the Human Resources Commission and traffic engineers. In conclusion, the City Manager announced that this is the last City Council Meeting that Assistant City Manager Wandzia Grycz will be attending, as she has been hired by the City of San Jose as their Chief Information Officer. He indicated that Dennis Smith, former Recreation & Parks Director, has been retained as the interim Assistant City Manager. 6. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies None B.
