<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council, <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency, and the <br />Geologic Hazard Abatement District Joint Meeting <br />January 16, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />5. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />The City Manager reported on the recent energy crisis and added that the staff is <br />aware and working on a goal of a 7% reduction in energy usage. He noted that the <br />City has been recognized by PG&E for its energy efficiency. He commented that the <br />City Council would be requested to add an Energy Resolution to the Council agenda <br />under New Business when they come to that portion of the agenda. <br /> <br />The City Manager indicated that staff is requesting that the Parks & Recreation <br />Commission review the city's policies regarding alcohol use in city parks. <br />With regard to the status of the senior meeting facility in the Main Library, the City <br />Manager noted that the meeting rooms should be available by the end of February. <br /> <br />In response to the comments made about the lack of magnification devices at the Main <br />Library, he noted that he would ask the Library Director to research the issue. He <br />further indicated that bicycle racks are due to be installed at the Main Library in the <br />near future. <br /> <br />The City Manager commented that the issue of transportation for disabled persons <br />would be referred to the Human Resources Commission and traffic engineers. <br /> <br />In conclusion, the City Manager announced that this is the last City Council Meeting <br />that Assistant City Manager Wandzia Grycz will be attending, as she has been hired by <br />the City of San Jose as their Chief Information Officer. He indicated that Dennis <br />Smith, former Recreation & Parks Director, has been retained as the interim Assistant <br />City Manager. <br /> <br />6. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> <br />A.
