<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting -- March 5, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 11 <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller remarked that he received a ruling from the State <br />Attorney General's Office, via the City Attorney's Office, regarding em ail use by <br />the City Council. He indicated that he will be removing the Council Members <br />from his Internet summaries of City Council Meetings. <br /> <br />In conclusion, Council Member Loefller noted his concern with the increased <br />number of ad-hoc committees used by the Council which do not allow community <br />participation in dialogues taking place. <br /> <br />B. Council Member Santos noted a couple of articles in the recent issue of Western <br />Cities regarding complying with AB 939. He indicated that they were very <br />informative and encouraged the balance of Council to read them. <br /> <br />C. Mayor Young reported on the recent rededication of the Tony Lema Golf Course <br />and reported that American Golf is planning for its first $100,000 Open (PGA- <br />Sponsored). She also reported that a final report will be provided later which may <br />show the Mayor's Cup brought in between $8,000 and $9,000 for the Mayor's <br />Community Fund.. <br /> <br />The Mayor also commented on the new glass cases that have arrived for the Sister <br />Cities Gallery. They will be installed soon and will allow for the display of various <br />gifts and memorabilia from our Sister Cities. <br /> <br />The Mayor then noted that Waste Management Authority has resources to assist <br />businesses in reducing waste and promoting more green buildings in the city. <br /> <br />In conclusion, the Mayor suggested the Council recognize the Lady Pirates <br />Basketball Team of San Leandro High for their recent achievements. <br /> <br />D. The City Attorney reported the City has filed a "Friend of the Court Brief' related <br />to the issue of contract employees. The Attorney's Office will keep the Council <br />informed of this case as it moves forward. <br /> <br />10. CONTINUED PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Continued Public Comments is limited to the balance of speaker cards that have been <br />submitted to the City Clerk and any new speakers who have not been heard. <br />Comments will be limited to 5 minutes per speaker. <br /> <br />A. Tom Guarino, 262 Davis Street, addressed the City Council and congratulated <br />the Mayor on her successful Mayor's Cup Golf Tournament; reminded the <br />community of the upcoming Energy Summit to take place March 16th at the Scout <br />Center on Davis Street from 8:30 to 11 a.m.; reminded the community that the <br />South San Leandro Business Association will be meeting at Ricky's Steakhouse at <br />
