Minute Order No. 2001-37, Matter of Nomination of Member to Human <br />Resources Commission (District 6) - Angelo Ruiz. (2024) <br /> <br />The City Council approved the nomination of Angelo Ruiz to the Human <br />Resources Commission (District 6). <br /> <br />M/S/C Santos and Glaze. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> <br />C. Matter of Discussion Regarding Strategic Plan Resulting from Strategic Planning <br />Retreat Held on February 24,2001. <br /> <br />Dennis Smith, Interim Assistant City Manager, gave an overview of the Strategic <br />Plan. <br /> <br />The City Manager noted that some of the projected dates may need to be modified. <br />The Council suggested that updates be given monthly regarding objectives and that <br />prior goals should be meshed with the objectives. <br /> <br />No action required. <br /> <br />9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />A. Council Member Galvan commended the City Attorney for protecting the City's <br />Rule 20- A funding regarding the under-grounding of utilities by filing a petition <br />with the Utilities Commission. <br /> <br />B. Council Member Nardine reported that she felt the trip to Washington, D.C. was <br />very worthwhile and noted her visit to the Dept. of Education where she <br />discovered a possible funding source for the Kid's Club. She deferred further <br />comments on that issue to Council Member Santos. <br /> <br />C. Council Member Loeffler commented on citizen concerns regarding the perception <br />of increasing panhandling in the downtown. He suggested that there be an <br />aggressive posture taken by the City and perhaps the need to create a Task Force <br />to address the issue. <br /> <br />Council Member Loeffler asked for the status of the Ad Hoc Committee formed to <br />review the issue of bonding for recreation space in the community. The Vice <br />Mayor noted that given the meetings with the school districts, it is time to move <br />ahead on the planning. <br />
