<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting - April 2, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 8 <br /> <br />D. Vice Mayor Glaze commented on the Cesar Chavez Celebration which took place <br />at the Main Library on Saturday, noting that some of the artwork is on display in <br />the Council Chambers. He indicated he would like staff to look into placing <br />banners on E. 14th Street next year recognizing Cesar Chavez. <br /> <br />E. Council Member Loefller thanked staff for providing information on building <br />permits and noted the City has had a 20% decrease in number of permits issued <br />this year in comparison with last year. <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller reported on his attendance with the Mayor at the AC <br />Transit MIS Policy Committee Meeting. He added the Committee is studying the <br />use ofE. 14th Street from Berkeley to Bayfair, noting that the public interest seems <br />to be light rail versus rapid busses. <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller also reported on a meeting of the San Leandro <br />Collaborative for Youth & Families Executive Committee. He noted they are <br />seeking representatives to be on the Steering Committee and encouraged youth <br />serving leaders and parents to apply. <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller reported on the grand opening of the John Muir Soccer <br />Field, the successful Art Reach event that was held on March 25th, and concluded <br />by suggesting it is time for San Leandro to get behind the America's Promise effort <br />by becoming an America's Promise sponsor city. <br /> <br />F. Council Member Santos noted his attendance at the Madison School Library <br />dedication and commented on the inadequate number of books. <br /> <br />G. Mayor Young noted her attendance at the Madison School Library event and <br />indicated there will be an upcoming additional ceremony regarding the new <br />marquee, which was donated through Council Member Nardine's neighborhood <br />empowerment funds. <br /> <br />10. CONTINUED PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Continued Public Comments is limited to the balance of speaker cards that have been <br />submitted to the City Clerk and any new speakers who have not been heard. <br />Comments will be limited to 5 minutes per speaker. <br /> <br />There were none. <br />
