<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Meeting <br />April 16, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 10 <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller clarified with the City Manager that the City Council will <br />received quarterly reports on the status of their Strategic Plan. <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller requested a report from staff regarding the City's efforts <br />to employ residents in city positions and attract city employees to live in San <br />Leandro, indicating that his major concern remains response times for public safety <br />personnel who live outside San Leandro in the event of a disaster. <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller requested that the City Council give serious <br />consideration to renaming the City Manager's Large Conference Room to the Wes <br />McClure Conference Room, with an appropriate recognition plaque for his <br />contributions. He requested that this issue be placed on the next Council agenda <br />for referral to the Rules and Communications Committee for consideration. <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller concluded by requesting an update from staff on the <br />potential impacts of SB 974, relating to public contracts by charter cities. <br /> <br />D. Council Member Santos noted the information received from the county on May <br />2001 being Older Americans Month. <br /> <br />Council Member Santos requested that the Mayor adjourn the City Council <br />Meeting in memory of Mike Garcia, an uncle of former Council Member Julian <br />Polvorosa. <br /> <br />Council Member Santos also requested that the City consider adopting a helmet <br />requirement for those young persons using motorized scooters. He concluded by <br />asking that the Mayor also adjourn the meeting in memory of Javier Montez, the <br />10-year old student from McKinley School, who was killed in a scooter accident at <br />Lake Chabot Park. <br /> <br />10. CONTINUED PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Continued Public Comments is limited to the balance of speaker cards that have been <br />submitted to the City Clerk and any new speakers who have not been heard. <br />Comments will be limited to 5 minutes per speaker. <br /> <br />A. AI Rosenga, 534 Parrot Street, addressed the City Council expressing concerns <br />as to how prospective buyers will be notified of the restrictions imposed with the <br />moratorium enacted this evening. <br /> <br />It was noted that the buyer is responsible for contacting the Police Department for <br />crime statistics, but that the seller is obligated to tell if there are any objectionable <br />activities in the area. <br />
