CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />A. Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag <br /> <br />B. Roll Call <br /> <br />PRESENT: Council Members Glaze, Grant, Loeffler, Nardine, Santos; <br />Mayor Young <br /> <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />2. PRESENTA TIONS/RECOGNITIONS <br /> <br />A. Presentation of Commendation to Jesus Saavedra, a Bancroft Middle School <br />Student Traveling to Cuba and South Africa This Summer with the "Together <br />Everyone Achieves More" Organization. <br /> <br />Jesus Saavedra was present to accept the proclamation. The Mayor also presented <br />a check from the City Council to Jesus for spending money along with some City <br />Seals to share with others while on his travels. <br /> <br />B. Presentation of the Disaster Resistant California Award to the City Council by Dan <br />Lunsford, Emergency Services Manager, on Behalf of Governor Gray Davis. <br /> <br />The Mayor accepted the award on behalf of the entire City Council. <br /> <br />C. Proclamation Declaring July "Parks and Recreation Month" in the City of San <br />Leandro. <br /> <br />Members of the Recreation and Parks Commission were present to accept the <br />Proclamation. <br /> <br />D. Presentation to San Leandro High School Wrestling Team. <br /> <br />The Mayor honored three members of the Pirates Wrestling Club of San Leandro <br />High School who have been selected to compete in a tournament in Fargo, North <br />Dakota. The Mayor presented a check to them in the amount of$500.00 on behalf <br />of the City Council. <br /> <br />E Presentation of Retirement Gift to Steve Meyers, City Attorney_ <br /> <br />The Mayor and Vice Mayor then made a presentation of a special edition model <br />airplane, signed by Charles Yeager, to retiring City Attorney Mr. Steve Meyers. <br />
