Mark Rezente, 1621 D~lI1iels Drive, addressed the City Council in support of Paul Nahm being appointed to fill the vacancy in District 1. G. John Faria, 2410 Lakeview Drive, addressed the City Council with concerns regarding the lack of newspaper coverage of the appointment process. He encouraged the City Council to carefully select someone to fill the vacancy and indicated that there are four very strong candidates to consider. H. Joseph Flynn, 877 Dolores Avenue, addressed the City Council in support of Orval Badger being appointed to fill the vacancy in District I. I. Shirley Kerr, 1801 Adams Avenue, addressed the City Council 10 suppol1 of Dale Reed being appointed to fill the vacancy in District I. 1. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne DI"ive, addressed the City Council in support of Paul Nahm because he has indicated he will not seek election in November 2002. 3. NEW BUSINESS A. Interviews of Candidates to Fill Vacant Seat, City Council, District 1. The Mayor explained the process that will take place this evening and the City Council, by a 4-2 straw vote, agreed to add one additional question to the recommended list. The question added would inquire as to if the candidate were a member of any formal political action Group that is registered with the Fair Political Practices Commission; and, if so, which group. (The amended list of questions is attached for reference to these Minutes.) The City Council conducted interviews for the Council Member, District I, vacancy in the following order: Orval Badger Mike Pretto Dale Reed Frank Lynn Paul Nahm Once the interviews were completed, all candidates returned to the meeting and the City Council cast the first ballot to select a candidate.
