Ayes: 6; Noes: Nardine <br /> <br />D. Resolution No. 2001-191 Resolution Approving the 2001-02 Five-Year Project <br />List for Underground Utility District Conversion Project. (Establishes the salary of City Council Members at $1,050.00 per <br />month and the compensation of the Mayor at $2,000.00 pcr month elTective January <br />1,2003; and establishes compensation of $30.00 per rneeting of the Rcdevelopment <br />Agency of the City of San Leandro fell' Members of the Agency in attendance <br />effective upon adoption of ordinance.) (1315) <br /> <br />The Mayor presented to the City Council an outline or recorded history) of <br />compensation of the Mayor and City Council going back to 1949 (incorporated by <br />reference and attached). After outlining the history and indicating that she has not, <br />during her tert11, asked for an increase, she strongly requested that the Council not <br />eonsider lowering the Mayor's base salary. She continued by commenting on the <br />number of hours required by an individual serving as Mayor and thc personal <br />investment of one's time that is rcquired. <br /> <br />Council Mcmber Santos commented that it is up to the City Council, per the City <br />Charter, to set the salary of the Mayor. !-Ic also rcmarkcd that thc City Council and <br />Mayor's benefits should be equal. I Ie added he feels the intent has always heen that <br />the Mayor's position be a part-timc position. lIe continued by remarking that thc <br />proposed Ordinance regarding the compensation or the Mayor would not take effect <br />until January I, 2003 and would apply to a new or re-elected Mayor. lIe <br />commented further on appointments to intergovernmental agencies and suggested <br />that there be a more equitable distribution of those appointments, as some of them <br />
