CITY COUNCIL REPORTS A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies 1. Mayor Young reported on the existence of two green businesses, as named by the Waste Management Authority, in San Leandro. Mayor Young reported on the State of California legislative update that addresses the state's shortfall of $12.4 billion for 2002, and the impact that Oakland and Fremont are already realizing from the events of 200 1. Mayor Young reported on a potential initiative regarding shared revenue from the state's sales tax. Mayor Young reported on the MTC bus pass demonstration project for low- income students that will probably be implemented in Oakland and cities north before addressing the needs of the entire two-county network 2. Council Member Grant reported that the Alameda County Housing Authority has opened a lottery for Section 8 housing. B. Reports on City Council Committees 1. Economic Development and Redevelopment Committee Meeting of November 27, 2001. Recommendations for City Council Consideration: a. Matter of discussion and direction regarding recommendation of modification of purchasing practices (increases local preference and informal bid limits). Recommendations for City COl,lncil Consideration: a. Matter of discussion and direction regarding recommendation on East 14th Street pedestrian safety improvements (use of federal grant funds for enhanced crosswalks).
