CITY MANAGER'S REPORT AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />There was no report or comments. <br /> <br />6. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> <br />A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br /> <br />1. Mayor Young reported on the existence of two green businesses, as named by <br />the Waste Management Authority, in San Leandro. <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported on the State of California legislative update that <br />addresses the state's shortfall of $12.4 billion for 2002, and the impact that <br />Oakland and Fremont are already realizing from the events of 200 1. <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported on a potential initiative regarding shared revenue from <br />the state's sales tax. <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported on the MTC bus pass demonstration project for low- <br />income students that will probably be implemented in Oakland and cities north <br />before addressing the needs of the entire two-county network <br /> <br />2. Council Member Grant reported that the Alameda County Housing Authority <br />has opened a lottery for Section 8 housing. <br /> <br />B. Reports on City Council Committees <br /> <br />1. Economic Development and Redevelopment Committee Meeting of November <br />27, 2001. <br /> <br />Recommendations for City Council Consideration: <br />a. Matter of discussion and direction regarding recommendation of <br />modification of purchasing practices (increases local preference and <br />informal bid limits). Approved by consensus to schedule item for the <br />January 7, 2002, City Council Agenda. (1368/1194) <br /> <br />2. Facilities Committee Meeting of November 20,2001. <br /> <br />Recommendations for City COl,lncil Consideration: <br />a. Matter of discussion and direction regarding recommendation on East 14th <br />Street pedestrian safety improvements (use of federal grant funds for <br />enhanced crosswalks). There was City Council consensus to have staff <br />bring forward a proposal for East 14th Street Pedestrian Safety <br />Improvements for full City Council consideration. (1419/2905) <br />
