How are subcontractors handled? <br /> <br />. B - As they are hired by the contractor, they are subject to the ordinance, and the <br />contractor is responsible for their adherence <br /> <br />H, 0, and R - Contractor is responsible. <br /> <br />6. How do account for employees where tips are part of their income (such as <br />waitresses at concessionaires)? <br /> <br />B - Doesn't know, not sure if they have any persons that would be covered by that <br /> <br />H - Nothing on that <br /> <br />0- Nothing on that, possibly through the Port of Oakland <br /> <br />R - The threshold was rather high and it was not something that they looked at. <br /> <br />7. Do you have a minimum age limit for employees covered by the living wage? <br /> <br />Band R - In the ordinance (Exempt if under 18 and employed by a non-profit after school <br />or during the summer or as trainee for no longer than 120 days) <br /> <br />H - See the ordinance (None) <br /> <br />o - See the ordinance (Exempt if under 18 and employed by a non-profit after school or <br />during the summer or as trainee for no longer than 90 days) <br /> <br />8. Has there been an actual or perceived impact on non-profits? <br /> <br />B - No <br /> <br />H - Most of those type (all probably) are handled by their Community and Economic <br />Development Dept., they send out a letter advising the non-profits of the wage <br />requirement and the non profits sign and return stating they will comply <br /> <br />o - Some of their non-profits put in for economic hardship exemptions such as the Zoo <br />and Children's Fairyland, but none were granted <br /> <br />R - Since it only applies to those with 20 or more employees and to those employees <br />spending 50% or more of their time on city matters, there has been no impact as far as <br />they can tell. <br /> <br />B - City of Berkeley; H - City of Hayward; 0 - City of Oakland; R - City of <br />Richmond <br /> <br />2 <br />
