(3/19/2007) Heidi Finberg - 3-20-2007Remarks to Council MarinaSubcommittee.doc

Page 2

Leadership of the Implementation phase must come from the Council. The will of this
Council to make whatever plan emerges from the other end of this process must be
Cohesive, Consistent, and Palpable. Only then will your professional staff have the sense
of direction necessary to embark on the heroic task of making that plan a reality.

I, personally, have watched the Marina transformation for 50 years. Throughout those
years, two facts rise above all others: I) Beyond its Recreational and Aesthetic attributes,
our Marina is, potentially, the most important economic asset in the City; and, 2) We
have never realized that potential.

We stand committed to working closely with you to not just develop a plan, but to
making that plan a reality on your watch. Please feel free to utilize us toward that goal.

Respectful] y,

Paul S, Nahm, Chair
Chamber of COl11merce
Marina Task Force
