Nahm <br />1591 Daniels Drive <br />San Leandro, CA 94577 <br /> <br />March 20, 2007 <br /> <br />San Leandro City Council <br />Marina Subcommittee <br />835 E. 14th Street <br />San Leandro, CA 94577 <br /> <br />Honorable Subcommittee Members: <br /> <br />I regret not being able to offer my comments in person, and I appreciate the opportunity <br />to have my written comments included in the record. <br /> <br />As Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce's Marina Task Force, 1 want to thank you for <br />the opportunity to offer input on this vital issue for the People of San Leandro. <br /> <br />Our Task Force has adopted four initial goals: <br /> <br />1) To develop a plan - to develop a plan; <br />2) To l;love the Marina issue forward; <br />3) To advocate transparency in the City process; and, <br />4) To include the community in that process. <br /> <br />These are simple goals on the surface. However, past experience around the responsible <br />development of the Marina has been stagnated by well-intended efforts to be All things to <br />A II people. This has led to the formulation of often grand plans with no practical <br />methodology for, or commitment to, implementation. <br /> <br />To be clear, we are not advocating for a particular development scenario or composition <br />of any kind at this time. Our primary emphasis has been to formulate a plan - to develop <br />a plan. We believe that a committed, cogent approach to HOW we move this effort <br />forward will result in an achievable plan of action. <br /> <br />We applaud your open, public approach to this challenge. We agree that community input <br />is essential. We now urge you to go where past Councils have not gone. <br />
