PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Public Comments are limited to 3 minutes per speaker, subject to adjustment by the Mayor. <br />When you address the City Council, you should fIll out a speaker card and submit it to the <br />City Clerk so the order of speakers may be determined and an official record of names and <br />addresses obtained. The public is invited to make comments on items of public interest NOT <br />listed on the Agenda. <br /> <br />Eowyn Gorman, Davis Street Family Resource Center, addressed the City Council, <br />thanking the Council for its support of CDBG funding for Davis Street. Ms. Gorman <br />commented on the services provided by Davis Street and the clients it serves. <br /> <br />Harold Perez, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting regarding <br />the need for trees to be planted along the sound wall to create privacy screening between <br />Westgate Shopping Center and neighboring residents, his neighbor's garage reconstruction <br />and the hours of construction, and airport noise mitigation. <br /> <br />Lou Filipovich, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, reading from the April <br />2, 2007, City Council meeting minutes regarding his comments and responses from staff and <br />expressed concern that the minutes do not provide details ofthe meeting. <br /> <br />6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />City Manager Jermanis noted that Ms. Gorman's comments highlight the importance ofHUD <br />funding for the non-profit organizations which serve San Leandro. Mr. Jermanis indicated <br />that Mr. Perez's neighbor has a permit to rebuild his garage, and staff will look into the hours <br />permitted to perform the construction work. He commented that the City does not plan to <br />plant trees along the sound wall on Westgate Parkway. Regarding comments made by Mr. <br />Filipovich, Mr. Jermanis noted that the Public Comments section of the agenda is not <br />intended to be dialogue between citizens and the Council, but rather for members of the <br />public to bring issues to the Council's attention which are not on the agenda. The City Clerk <br />prepares summary minutes, which are not detailed and only capture the essence of what is <br />discussed. <br /> <br />Mayor Santos commented that members of the City Council receive many constituent <br />comments by phone and email and are very accessible to the community. <br /> <br />7. AMENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />City Councilmembers or staff have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be <br />removed from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special <br />consideration. Members of the Public may request the opportunity to address the City <br />Council regarding items remaining on the Consent Calendar by filling out a speaker card and <br />
