Current Rent and Affordability. Motel rent rates are established by the property owner
and vary depending upon the number of occupants in each room. Weekly rent rates range from
$265 to $357.
The majority of households reported that they are currently paying more than 30% of
their monthly income towards rent. Relocation Regulations state that housing lAhich exceeds
30% of a household's adjusted gross monthly income is not "affordable housing" nor is it within
the financial means of the displaced household. Therefore, all eligible displaced households will
be assisted through the Agency's Last Resort Housing Program so that their rent for a
comparable replacement site will not exceed 30% of the household's adjusted gross monthly
income. Other affected households will be eligible to receive assistance under the Agency's
Last Resort Housing Program if their total Rental Assistance exceeds $5,250.

Transportation. Of the occupants that 'M9re interviewed, many reported that they had
at least one car per household. However, several of the occupants reported that they rely
heavily on public transportation. Bus service is available several blocks from the motel. Every
attempt will be made to help the households secure replacement housing with similar access to
public transportation.

Relocation Impact Study and Last Resort Housing Plan
Page 9
