Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and
San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting - January 18, 2000

Page 10

11. CONTINUED PUBLIC COMMENTS

Continued Public Comments is . limited to the balance of speaker cards that have been
submitted to the City Clerk and any new speakers who have not been heard.
Comments will be limited to 5 minutes per speaker.

A. AI Rosenga, 534 Parrott Street, addressed the City Council regarding the
proposed privatization of the garbage service and asked how many employees will
be displaced and questioned if we can actually reduce overhead costs. He further
stated that with the distribution of overhead to an activity impacts will be made on
the City's other services. He also questioned what happens to those residents who
only have 20-gallon containers and have benefited from the reduced costs. He
stated that one container may not be enough for consumers. He concluded by
stressing the need for an educational program for citizens.

B. Justin Agrella, 1231 - 148th Avenue, addressed the City Council and stated he
would like to have seen the refuse contract be a year-to-year contract. He also
commented that the Real Estate Property Transfer Tax is not split between the
buyer and seller as was insinuated earlier. He indicated what residents want is for
the City Council to either rescind the Real Estate Property Transfer Tax or put the
issue on the ballot.

12.
