Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and
San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting - January 18, 2000

Page 4

6. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS

A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies

1. Council Member Glaze reported on his attendance at the recent Alameda
County Mosquito Abatement District Board of Directors Meeting for this
month and indicated there was good news - the number of active mosquitoes is
down. The bad news is that the upcoming rain may make it go up. He also
indicated he was given a new pin that should be presented to the representative
to the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District Board of Directors at the
time the appointment is made.

Mayor Young indicated that until a representative is appointed she would like
volunteers from the City Council to attend the meetings. It was agreed
Council Member Nardine will attend the February Meeting.

Council Member Glaze reported there are no provisions in the Health and
Safety Code for an alternate from the City to serve on the Alameda County
Mosquito Abatement District Board of Directors.

The Mayor suggested the City Council present a Commendation to Ed
Suchman for his service on the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District
Board of Directors.

2. Mayor Young reported on her attendance of the Policy Steering Committee of
the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District. She indicated there are upcoming
public outreach meetings to be held with Berkeley, Oakland, and San Leandro
regarding light rail, electric buses, clean-air fuel, electric trolley bus, and
transit-friendly street improvements. She indicated the meeting in San Leandro
will be on January 25, 2000.

Mayor Young concluded by reporting the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit
District and the Alameda County Congestion Management Agency are both
looking into the Steering Committee reports, because in the Governor's "State
of the State Address," transportation issues and tax reauthorization were not
fully supported. She indicated the Steering Committee for the Measure "B"
Reauthorization will be meeting on January 24, 2000, to discuss the final
Measure and the 20-year staff recommendation. The final vote by CMA will
take place in February 2000.
