<br />\. <br /> <br />Minutes.- City of San Leandro City Council Special Meeting <br />January 31, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Galvan commented that the City Council's consideration of the <br />privatization of garbage services has nothing to do with the service provided by the <br />Public Works Services Department - it is a matter of economics. He noted there is <br />only one City in Alameda County that continues to provide garbage service. He <br />thanked staff and stated he was pleased with. the deal points presented. He feels <br />this proposal will improve the level of service tremendously and will keep rates in <br />line with neighboring jurisdictions. He also indicated the debt will be repaid, and <br />the City will stop losing money on this service. He concluded by stating he feels <br />this is a great franchise agreement for the City. <br /> <br />The following Resolution was then introduced: <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2000-8, Resolution Approving a Franchise Agreement for <br />Solid Waste,.Recyclables, and Green Waste Services Between the City of San <br />Leandro and Alameda County Industries, Inc. (1078) <br /> <br />M1S/C Loeffler and Nardine. Ayes: 5; Noes: Lothrop; Absent: Young <br /> <br />5.
