<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Meeting <br />February 28, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />He indicated his appreciation for the time the Y AC has spent reviewing this issue. <br />He stressed that the City Council takes their recommendation seriously but should <br />not vote on it just to show agreement. <br /> <br />Council Member Glaze indicated he understands what the Vice Mayor is saying <br />but would be voting in favor of the Y AC recommendation. He, too, voiced <br />concerns with the Proposition's language. <br /> <br />Council Member Nardine commented that she feels the language proposed in <br />Proposition 21 is a "quick fix" and does not necessarily address the real issues. <br />She indicated she will also be supporting the Y AC' s recommendation. <br /> <br />Council Member Lothrop stated she will be voting to support the Y AC' s <br />recommendation and indicated her opposition to the proposed language of <br />Proposition 21 and indicated other organizations that were also opposed. <br /> <br />Mayor Young concluded by stating she was inclined to abstain from voting on this <br />matter because of an indecision personally; but after hearing discussion and the <br />input from Mr. Martell, she will support the Y AC' s opposition to Proposition 21. <br /> <br />The following Motion was then introduced: <br /> <br />Minute Order No. 2000-13, Matter of Youth Advisory Commission's (YAC) <br />Recommendation on Proposition 21: Juvenile Crime. Initiative Statute. (1123) <br /> <br />The City Council supported the Youth Advisory Commission's (YAC) <br />recommendation in opposition to Proposition 21. <br /> <br />M/S/C Grant and Loerner. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> <br />The City Council adjourned to Work Session at 7:45 p.m. <br /> <br />3.
