NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />A Report on Closed Session Actions Taken. <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />8. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />A There was City Council consensus to recess for the month of August. <br /> <br />Mayor Young also complimented and thanked San Leandro High School for their <br />production of "Bye Bye Birdie." <br /> <br />The Mayor inquired, and the City Council agreed, to make a combined, personal <br />contribution to the "After Graduation Sober Party Program" for the two high <br />schools. <br /> <br />B. Council Member Lothrop noted the news received recently regarding the loss of <br />the San Francisco Bay Conference Center project. She commented on past <br />agreements with labor groups regarding development at the Marina and stated she <br />hoped those agreements would stand for future development proposals. <br /> <br />The City Attorney recommended bringing a resolution to the City Council to <br />memorialize existing agreements with labor groups regarding all aspects of the <br />agreements and/or negotiated terms which were reached with the San Francisco <br />Bay Conference Center project. <br /> <br />City Council general consensus was reached to ensure that all prospective <br />developers know the history of prior agreements. <br /> <br />Council Member Lothrop suggested the Marina sites be opened to more interested <br />parties through an open process; i.e., Request for Proposals. <br /> <br />C. Council Member Loefller reported on the National League of Cities Conference, <br />indicating meetings were held with James Lee Witt of FEMA, noting FEMA has <br />proposed to have public agencies insure buildings against disasters. <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller also reported on programs he saw at the National <br />League of Cities Conference regarding the "undoing of racism" in communities <br />and expressed his view that there is a need to have public dialogue on this issue in <br />San Leandro. He suggested this issue be placed on the Mayor's Human Relations <br />Council Agenda. <br />
