<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Meeting <br />April 3, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 7 <br /> <br />Council Member Loeftler asked the City Manager to explain the next steps for <br />implementation of the Youth Master Plan. The City Manager responded that legal <br />issues have been resolved between the City and the School Districts. <br /> <br />Council Member Loemer commented on a petition received from residents on Lille <br />Street who want their street name corrected from Lille Street to Lille Avenue. The <br />City Manager responded that he will research the request. <br /> <br />D. Council Member Glaze reflected on the issue of gas prices and asked the City <br />Attorney to research whether the City has authority to regulate gas prices locally <br />or require gas stations to give notice of pending price increases and the reasons for <br />same. <br /> <br />Council Member Glaze also commented on the number of street lights out in the <br />community. He asked if there is a plan for replacing older utilities with new <br />equipment since the City has taken over the lights from PG&E. <br /> <br />Council Member Glaze opened discussion regarding the upcoming appointment to <br />the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District Board of Directors. Mayor <br />Young responded there are five applicants for the position. Vice Mayor Galvan <br />volunteered to attend the April 12th meeting. The appointment to the vacant <br />position will be placed on the April 17, 2000, Agenda for action by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />9. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />The City Manager reported, at the request of Council Member Galvan, on the <br />preliminary information regarding the Geological Hazard Abatement District <br />questionnaire responses. He indicated there was an overwhelming response from Bay- <br />0- Vista residents in opposition to participating financially. He further noted that the <br />immediate residents of Hillside Drive were in support of participating financially. He <br />added that further discussion will take place with property owners in the immediate <br />slide area to identify future steps. <br /> <br />In response to comments regarding Lille Street, the City Manager reported it has been <br />called "street" for more than 40 years. He indicated he will ask staff to work with the <br />residents on this matter. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Galvan commended the City Manager, staff: Mayor, and City Council for <br />all the effort put forth to repair the hillside on behalf of the area residents. He asked <br />how the results of the survey will be communicated to the residents in the Bay-O- Vista <br />area. The City Manager responded that a letter will be mailed to all property owners <br />in Bay-O- Vista regarding the results of the survey and the next steps to be taken. <br />
