<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Special Meeting - June 26, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />E. In response to a question from Council Member Glaze, the Mayor noted the City is <br />working with Cal- Trans for a change in the signal timing at Dutton Avenue and <br />East 14th Street. She further added that the accident rate is down 50% on East <br />14th Street since the restriping. <br /> <br />F. The City Manager noted plans for a Reopening Gala for the Library in the Fall. He <br />reported on the Library Foundation's efforts and commented on the Senior <br />Foundation information included in a recent survey of needs. He added that the <br />new Recreation Director will bring the results to the City Council soon. <br /> <br />In conclusion, the Mayor reported that since the Library 2000 Committee's <br />planned Golf Tournament was canceled, she organized a Mayor's Mini-Marathon <br />which has raised $10,000 for the Library Foundation. <br /> <br />8. CONTINUED PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Continued Public Comments is limited to the balance of speaker cards that have been <br />submitted to the City Clerk and any new speakers who have not been heard. <br />Comments will be limited to 5 minutes per speaker. <br /> <br />A. Lou Filipovich, 15387 Laverne Drive, addressed the City Council, noting there <br />is not an opportunity for the public to participate in the Agenda because of how it <br />is structured. He also commented there is not a full Agenda packet available at the <br />libraries. He reminded the City Council that Mr. Alexander was part of the <br />Election process and said some election matters should be investigated. He also <br />remarked that the change in City Attorneys should have been explained in greater <br />detail. He concluded by suggesting the Redevelopment Agency Meetings should <br />be held on a different night than the City Council Meetings and said there is a need <br />for a public advocacy office. <br /> <br />B. Tom Guarino, Representing the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce, <br />addressed the City Council, applauding the comments made by the City Council <br />regarding the recent shooting tragedy. <br />
