<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting - July 17, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 15 <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller inquired about how the City replaces computers at City <br />Hall and asked if the old ones are donated to anyone. Staff responded that the <br />City uses its computers until they are no longer useful and then puts the old ones <br />up for auction and/or donates them to non-profit organizations within the <br />community. <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller concluded by thanking Jeannie Wakeland from the Daily <br />Review for her article on Casa Peralta and for promoting San Leandro's history. <br />Council Member Loefller concurred with statements that the City needs to get the <br />Historical Commission established. <br /> <br />E. Council Member Lothrop also commented on the successful "Day at the Casa." <br />She noted a special meeting to be held on July 25th regarding the Timothy Drive <br />Neighborhood. She also recommended that the issue of "neighborhood <br />associations" be reviewed by the City Council Rules and Communications <br />Committee. <br /> <br />Council Member Lothrop also reported on problems with vandalism at Warden <br />Park and requested that flyers be distributed throughout the neighborhood to <br />educate residents on the need to respect their park. It was also suggested the <br />"respect for parks" issue and how to educate the public be sent to the Youth <br />Advisory Commission (Y AC), as well as the Recreation and Parks Commission. <br /> <br />F. Mayor Young thanked Vice Mayor Glaze and Council Member Nardine for <br />attending the Washington Manor FEMA Meeting. She also suggested the City put <br />up some sort of banner at City Hall recognizing San Leandro as a "Millennium <br />City." <br /> <br />Mayor Young continued by congratulating Jeannie Wakeland for receiving an <br />award for her story on airport noise. The Mayor also reported on her service as a <br />Board Member for Women in Municipal Government and her attendance at a <br />recent meeting in Monrovia. Monrovia's cable access to City meetings and the <br />operation of their cable station involving students from local schools was <br />discussed. She indicated she will pass this information on to the interested parties. <br />Other issues discussed included hillside development, redevelopment, zoning, <br />youth, and business. <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported the new President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors is <br />Brent Cole, Mayor of Boise, Idaho. She indicated she has been asked to be on his <br />transition team regarding City policy issues. She will be serving on an Airport <br />Committee which will be meeting in Chicago on Thursday of this week. <br /> <br />Mayor Young concluded by commenting on a Foothill Freeway meeting scheduled <br />for this Thursday and suggested someone from San Leandro should attend. <br />
