<br />.. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />'. <br />... <br /> <br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Meeting <br />July 31, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />The Mayor remarked about a recent visit of sister-city officials from Naga City, <br />gave a reminder of "National Night Out," and spoke regarding her attendance at <br />the Marina Vista Homeowners Association festivities on Sunday, as well as an <br />Awards Program for the Washington Manor Swim Team at John Muir Pool. <br /> <br />8. CONTINUED PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Continued Public Comments is limited to the balance of speaker cards that have been <br />submitted to the City Clerk and any new speakers who have not been heard. <br />Comments will be limited to 5 minutes per speaker. <br /> <br />A. Doug Siden, 3408 Berthorn Lane, Alameda, Representing the East Bay <br />Regional Park District, gave an update on the District's activities, including <br />youth services, transportation for seniors, ground-breaking dedications at the Oro <br />Loma Wetlands, Camp Arroyo, and various educational programs. He remarked <br />that the Park Bond Measure for the District to open up new parks has been <br />postponed for a couple of years. <br /> <br />B. Michelle Berntson, 20 Begier Avenue, addressed the City Council on behalf of <br />the children in our community, stressing her opposition to closing any public <br />libraries in the Alternate Budget. She stressed that, if you close a branch library, <br />you close a door for a child and open a door for crime. <br /> <br />9. ADJOURN <br /> <br />The City Council adjourned their meeting at 9:20 p.m. <br /> <br />The City Council is taking a Summer Recess for the month of August.
