Matter of Nomination of Member to the Planning <br />Commission - Adriann 1. McCall- District 2. (1018) <br /> <br />Council approved the nomination of Adriann J. McCall to the Planning <br />Commission - District 2. <br /> <br />M/S/C Grant and Lothrop. Ayes: 6; Noes: 0; Absent: Loeffler <br /> <br />E. Minute Order 2000-42. Motion to Approve Letter to the Port of Oakland <br />Requesting Community Meetings Regarding the South Field Resurfacing Project. <br />(1215/1270) <br /> <br />Council consensus was to approve the letter, with an amendment to reflect <br />that the community meetings be held as soon as possible. <br /> <br />7. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />A. Council Member Grant commented on her recent attendance of the League of <br />California Cities Conference in Monterey and indicated she was privileged to sit <br />on a panel with Redevelopment experts regarding Redevelopment projects. She <br />reported that what we are experiencing in San Leandro has been shared by other <br />cities as well. <br /> <br />Council Member Grant also commented that the issue of "Community Banking" <br />was also discussed at the Conference and that check-cashing companies are locating <br />next to banks. She indicated community education is necessary, especially as it <br />relates to students being offered credit cards. <br /> <br />Council Member Grant concluded by stating that during the month of August, <br />although the City Council will be on recess, she will be meeting with the South <br />Area Business Association to bring a coordinated effort together. <br /> <br />Council Members Nardine and Glaze also commented on the positive aspects of <br />the recent LOCC Conference in Monterey. <br /> <br />B. The Mayor reported on her attendance at the Conference also and reported on an <br />Adopted Budget Summary Booklet she received from the City of Monrovia. She <br />indicated she would like the City Manager and the City Council Finance <br />Committee to take a look at this booklet and to consider using something similar <br />in San Leandro. <br /> <br />The Mayor reported on the placement of Measure "B" on the ballot. She also <br />indicated there will be a committee formed to review the planning that goes into <br />the budget, as well as the funding for Central County transit. A Policy Advisory <br />Committee has been formed, and she and Gordon Galvan will be representing the <br />City of San Leandro. <br />
