<br />,~ <br />~' ~ " <br /> <br />;.~ <br /> <br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council, <br />San Leandro Economic Development Agency, San Leandro <br />Public Financing Authority, and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency <br />Joint Meeting - September 18, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 16 <br /> <br />There was City Council consensus to forward to the City Council Rules and <br />Communications Committee the issue of obtaining a facilitator and putting a <br />timeline in place for the City Manager's evaluation. <br /> <br />Council Member Loeffler continued by commenting on his attendance at the <br />League of California Cities Conference where Wes McClure, the City's former <br />City Manager, was recognized for his many contributions over the years. He <br />suggested that when the City looks at upcoming Millennium Events, he would like <br />to see something. celebrating Wes McClure's achievements. Council Member <br />Loeffler commented on his attendance at the Best Manor Homeowners' <br />Association's Picnic at Siempre Verde Park and thanked Glen and Bee Hilton for <br />their efforts. In conclusion, he verified with the City Clerk that October 10, 2000, <br />is the last day to register to vote for the November 7,2000, Election. <br /> <br />D. Council Member Grant commented on the public meeting sponsored by the Port of <br />Oakland regarding airport issues last week, which included a discussion regarding <br />proposed runway closures/changes. <br /> <br />Council Member Grant also noted a copy of a letter from Supervisor Keith Carson <br />regarding an upcoming Million Family Festivity. He has asked for the City of San <br />Leandro to sponsor the event. After a brief discussion, it was suggested that <br />Council Member Grant work with the Mayor to do a Proclamation. In conclusion, <br />Council Member Grant commented on the fire at Palma Plaza this morning. She <br />extended her appreciation for the services of the Fire Department. <br /> <br />E. Council Member Galvan commented that the League of California Cities <br />Conference was excellent, and it was inspiring and gratifying to see Wes McClure <br />recognized. He reminded the City Council that Jack Maltester won the Lifetime <br />Achievement Award last year. He indicated San Leandro has much to be proud of <br />and stated his support for doing something special for Wes McClure. He <br />continued by commenting that there is a need to convey the goals and vision better <br />with the community, indicating that Wes' and Jack's success had to do with <br />building coalitions and partnerships in the community. <br /> <br />F. Mayor Young recognized Tom Guarino and the Chamber of Commerce for <br />working with the City Council Ad Hoc Parking Issues Committee on issues. <br /> <br />The Mayor continued by stating on October 5th there will be a groundbreaking for <br />the new Post Office facility. <br />
