<br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Councilmember Gregory hoped that a program could be rolled out with the opening <br />of the Bancroft field; however, Board Member Cassidy asked that a proposal be <br />developed and considered first. City Manager Jermanis pointed out that such a <br />program may help on joint applications for related activities, including Safe Routes to <br />School. <br /> <br />4. Review of Draft Agenda for Joint Meeting of the City Council and School Board <br />on June 25. 2007 <br />By consensus, the Committee agreed on the following items: An overview and <br />synopsis of Measure B projects, a presentation on a healthy children's program, with <br />a potential presentation by Dr. Iton, Alameda County Health Department, and a <br />review of the draft truancy ordinance. Ifready, an overview of the City's TOD and <br />in-field projects may be added. <br /> <br />5. Public Comments <br />Jim Athey, 1805 Sundberg Avenue, commented on physical problems at the adult <br />school area on Williams Avenue. Morgan Mack-Rose, 570 Victoria Court, <br />commented on sugar and food rewards at the elementary school level and graffiti and <br />security at Washington School. <br /> <br />6. Committee Member Comments <br />Mayor Santos commented about auto use at the high school and suggested severely <br />limiting parking and having students walk or take public transportation to the campus. <br />He also mentioned that the committee should look into joint facilities maintenance, <br />with the City taking the lead role in providing this service. Councilmember Gregory <br />also commented on high school area parking and again expressed his enthusiasm for a <br />healthy students program. Board Member Cassidy asked for an update on the status <br />of Burrell Field. He noted that parking was vital to the functioning of the high <br />school. He also suggested that a meeting be held among San Lorenzo and San <br />Leandro Unified School Districts and the City Council. Board Member Hague <br />expressed her optimism that the performing arts center would be a community asset <br />and asked that the City continue considering participation. <br /> <br />7. Adjournment <br />Being no further business, Mayor Santos adjourned the meeting at 5:40 p.m. <br />
